Other things you would like to learn about.

Before our class is over, I would like to ask if there any other topics or issues, related to electricity and magnetism, you would like to learn more about?  Please feel free to post comments and thoughts on that here (or to email me if you prefer).  zacksc@gmail.com

  1. We've learned a lot about how to analyze magnetic and electric fields and different kinds of circuits, but is it possible that we could learn what causes these phenomena? I suppose questions like "why is a positive charge attracted to a negative charge" might be too much for this class...

  2. How magnets become permanent magnets at an atomic levels, and possibly characterization of magnets.

  3. What happens in a resistor. HOW energy is dissipated. Similar to the above, I'm curious about conceptual questions at the atomic level.

  4. These are very interesting to me. Thanks. I am hoping to see more.

  5. Resistors and other circuit elements in computer electronics, possibly getting into memresistors(sp?) and how they work/how they enablr more complex computing. Got to talking about AC current with my lab TA and he mentioned another circuit element we have not talked about, I believe it was called a diode - and it is responsible for converting AC current to DC current. I'd also like to know more about AC current, why we use it, and maybe a little history of why it was chosen for transmission over DC. oh, and Nikolas Tesla, whats up with that guy?
